Privacy Policy — FTAlert

FTAlert is a native macOS application for amateur-radio operators. This policy explains what FTAlert does with your information. The short version: FTAlert is offline-first — nearly everything happens on your Mac, and we do not run advertising, analytics, or tracking of any kind.

1. What we don't do

FTAlert contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not collect usage statistics, crash reports, or telemetry. We do not sell, share, or rent personal information, because we do not collect it.

2. Data processed on your device

The following stay entirely on your Mac and are never transmitted to us:

Decode data — WSJT-X and MSHV decode messages received over your local UDP port, used to evaluate alerts.
Your log — ADIF files you import are parsed and stored locally to build your worked index (new DXCC, B4 detection).
Settings and wanted lists — your alert preferences, wanted callsigns, prefixes, and grids.

3. Optional network features

Some features contact third-party services. These are off by default and only run when you enable and configure them:

POTA / SOTA spots — FTAlert may fetch public activation data from api.pota.app. No personal information is sent; only the public spot feed is read.
ClubLog upload — if you enable it and provide your credentials, your QSO records are sent to clublog.org using their public API.
QRZ upload / lookup — if you enable it and provide your credentials, QSO records or callsign lookups are sent to logbook.qrz.com using their API.

When you use these features, your data is handled by those third parties under their own privacy policies. FTAlert stores any credentials you enter locally in your macOS keychain.

4. Location Services

FTAlert may optionally use Location Services, on-device, to determine your station's grid square. Location is never stored by us or transmitted off your Mac. You can decline and enter your grid square manually instead.

5. Subscriptions and payments

FTAlert Pro subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details. Your subscription is governed by Apple's privacy policy and can be managed or cancelled in System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

6. Data retention and deletion

Because FTAlert does not collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. All logs, settings, and wanted lists live on your device and are removed when you delete the app or its data.

7. Children's privacy

FTAlert is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. As noted above, it does not collect personal information from anyone.

8. Changes to this policy

If we ever change how FTAlert handles data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
